Heatwave Reflection

I thought that Heatwave was a very interesting movie. It showed the point of view of many colored people during the Watts Riots and it showed how many of them were being discriminated. The movie followed a colored family and the struggles they had to face for being black during the time of the Watts Riots. The Watts Riots took place in 1964 in Watts, California.
This movie shows that back then the white people would treat the black people very poorly and differently than them and they would discriminate against them. It also shows that colored people didn't have the same priorities as the white people in their time. Black people were't encouraged to achieve their goals and dreams like the white people were. Colored people were actually put down from their dreams and were told to get more "realistic" dreams like being a mechanic or some career that doesn't need much education to perform.
I learned from the movie that journalism can be very dangerous and you can be risking your life. Also, you have to be very out-there to be a good journalist. I also learned that there is only one truth, no matter who it's for or who it's against. The movie also shows that to be a good journalist, you must be very determined to get the facts that you need and that you must have good connections with the story you are on and you can't be afraid to go to the scene and get information. One must be fearless of getting what you need.

Ebola Stories

This is a ridiculous news story about ebola claiming that two ebola victims that have recently passed away have now come back to life and are walking amongst the living. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/ebola-victims-african-village-rise-4320414

This ebola story is false because this story is saying that 20 nurses died for coming into contact with a baby who is supposedly contagious with the ebola virus.

This news story is true and it is very informative to the public. It tells you the symptoms of ebola and how if can be prevented.

Opinion Staff

I think that my staff is the best staff there is because we are going to be able to write our opinion about the news that is traveling around campus. Also, we are going to be able to express the opinion of the rest of the students as well. I think that our staff is going to do a good job with our part of the Bell Chimes because there are a lot of things that we are going to be able to write about. For example, the things we write about can be a little bit of every staff, like our opinion about news, sports, and features. I hope to accomplish interacting with new people and getting everyone's opinion heard on the Bell Chimes. I also hope to achieve on improving my writing skills in this class and viewing a different way of writing.

Boy Abducted in Seattle

I thought it was interesting because the little boy was abducted by his own father and his father is known to be a drug user, which can be very dangerous for the little boy.http://touch.latimes.com/#section/1780/article/p2p-81350791/
